2009 Kentucky Derby Odds: Lines are All Over the Place
Gambling911.com has been monitoring the 2009 Kentucky Derby odds throughout the night and early morning hours. It’s amazing how these odds reflect the concept that there really is no set favorite. The Kentucky Derby lines are essentially all over the map.
If we look across the board we will see that the slight favorite, I Want Revenge, continues to have its Kentucky Derby betting odds slashed, not by much however. Dunkirk, for example, was listed at +350 odds at BetUS.com compared to I Want Revenge at +300 odds at SBG Global (one of the few online gambling sites still holding I Want Revenge at that number). Most books had moved I Want Revenge down to +275 odds or lower.
Dunkirk is nearly the favorite, but not quite.
"This is an extremely tight race when it comes to the odds," says Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com. "Dunkirk and Pioneer of the Nile have the same odds (+400 or 4/1) at SBG Global."
Yet at betED.com we find that Pioneer of the Nile pays $550 for every $100 bet.
And while we just got through discussing how I Want Revenge and Dunkirk were nearly neck and neck favorites when comparing certain online gambling sites, Friesan Fire is the favorite at BetUS.com, paying $300 for every $100 bet. That’s the same number found on I Want Revenge at SBG Global.
The best payout potential we could find across the board was $8000 for every $100 bet on either Mine That Bird or Join in the Dance at Sports Interaction. You gotta love that number.
